World Water Day, the White House, and the Water Degree

Water Resources, Policy, and Management (WRPM) coordinator and professor, Stephen Schoenholtz, attends the White House Water Summit today to present the university’s commitment to water sustainability and security at the summit.  Specifically, the White House selected Virginia Tech’s WRPM program as one of its 150 invitees from across the nation to participate.

Today, on World Water Day, jobs are recognized for their relationship to water. Three quarters of jobs that make up the entire global workforce are water-dependent. A focus this year on World Water Day is on the power that water and jobs have to transform people’s lives. Nearly all jobs are related to water and those that ensure its safe delivery. World Water Day is an international observance day and an opportunity to learn more about water related issues.
