Undergraduate Research Opportunities
There are a couple ways students can secure research opportunities, including connecting with an office/department, connecting with a lab on campus, and connecting with a faculty member conducting research.
Here are a few places you can reach out to about undergraduate research:
The VT Office of Undergraduate Research (general resource for helping students locate research opportunities)
The Mims Research Lab in Biology (conducts ongoing freshwater research)
The Carey Lab in Biology (conducts ongoing freshwater research)
Labs in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (various)
Research in CNRE (especially in FREC and FIW)
Dr. Kevin McGuire, who can provide more information about opportunities with the Virginia Water Resources Research Center
WRPM faculty mentors and professors you know from past classes are great resources for ideas and may have some research happening now
Dr. Gannon has ongoing hydroinformatics research
The Virginia Water Resources Research Center Internship Program is a semester-long paid internship for undergraduate students.
Other research opportunities are posted in the Advising Center newsletter and the jobs/internships newsletter.
A related opportunity are the on-campus internships with the VT Office of Sustainability.
